Energy Efficiency Tax Credits Extended Through 2010

Congress extends home energy efficiency tax credits through the end of 2010 for the purchase of energy efficient appliances. Certain purchases for existing primary residences for home insulation products, new windows, heaters and more qualify for tax credits.

The tax credit, of 30% of cost of the home improvement, up to $1,500 expires on December 31, 2010. The improvement must be on an existing home and the home must be your principal residence. Note: New construction and rentals do not qualify for the tax credit.

In most cases, the cost of installation is not factored in the tax rebate. Other restrictions also apply.
